What these connections are for

Gmail lets the assistant send from a connected address. Google Calendar lets the assistant see your selected calendars and book meetings. They are separate service connections: connecting Gmail does not select calendars, and connecting a calendar does not grant email sending.

Before you start

Use a Google account you control and complete Google's sign-in and permission screens. Email sending and calendar sync must be enabled for your workspace. If the dialog says Turn on email sending before you connect Gmail. or Turn on calendar sync before you connect Google Calendar., the service is not ready for connection in this workspace; retrying Google sign-in alone will not enable it.

Connect Gmail

  1. Open Connections, then Gmail and Connect Gmail.
  2. Complete the Google sign-in and allow sending from the intended account. Return to the app and check that the address is listed.
  3. To add another address, choose Connect another address and complete the same process for that Google account.
  4. On the address you want the assistant to use, choose Send from this address. The confirmation line becomes The assistant sends from this address. Other connected addresses show Connected.
  5. To share a sending address with eligible teammates, open Who can send and choose them. A shared address shows who shared it with you; the owner must restore the connection if it becomes unavailable.

Only you and teammates you explicitly allow can send from these addresses. Connecting an address is not itself an instruction to send mail.

Connect Google Calendar

  1. Open Connections, then Google Calendar and Connect Google Calendar.
  2. Complete Google's authorization for the correct account. Check the account email in the returned card.
  3. Choose Choose calendars. In Which calendars should sync?, tick the calendars you want read and choose Save.
  4. Check Syncing: {names} on the card. No calendars are syncing yet. means the connection exists but no calendars are selected.
  5. Use Connect another account if another Google account is needed, then choose its calendars too.

Only the calendars you select are read. The connection is personal: Only you can see this calendar. It is not automatically shared with your workspace.

Reconnect or disconnect

For Calendar, choose Reconnect when access has ended, then revisit Choose calendars. For Gmail, connect the address again if access ended or if the app says permission to send mail was not granted. Allow the missing sending permission in Google's flow.

To disconnect Gmail, use Disconnect and confirm Disconnect this address? The assistant stops sending from it. Your mailbox and already-sent mail are unchanged.

To disconnect a calendar, use Disconnect and confirm Disconnect this calendar? The assistant stops seeing the schedule and booking through it. Events in Google Calendar are not deleted. Disconnecting one service should not be mistaken for deleting your Google account.

If something goes wrong

Symptom Cause and next step
Connection did not finish Start again, complete Google authorization and return to the app.
Gmail connected without send permission Connect again and allow sending. A connected badge alone does not resolve missing permissions.
Shared email address unavailable Ask the person who connected it to connect it again.
No calendar events available after connection Open Choose calendars and make sure the intended calendars are selected.
Google is busy Wait a minute and retry the calendar picker.
Calendar access ended Reconnect, then select calendars again.
Address/calendar list may be out of date Refresh the connection data before relying on the displayed list. A failed refresh is not proof of disconnection.
Service turned off New provider actions are unavailable, but the app still allows disconnecting an existing connection.
