# Manage your sign-in methods

Check the account email and Google connection and add or change an app password with the identity confirmation requested.

Canonical: https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/account/sign-in-methods/

## Available sign-in methods

The app supports email/password and **Continue with Google**. Creating an account with Google does not mean an app password already exists. A Google-connected account can add a password for the same account; this does not change its Google password or disconnect Google.

## Before you start

Sign in as the intended person. Have access to the account email and, if the account uses an authenticator, that app. The profile contact fields are not controls for changing your authentication identity. Detailed preference navigation is in [Settings](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/settings/overview/).

## Add or change your password

1. Open **Settings**, then **Account preferences**. Find **Sign-in methods**.
1. Check the account email shown. **Google — connected** appears if the current account has that connection.
1. Choose **Set or change password**. The password form identifies the account it is changing.
1. Enter **New password** and **Confirm password**. Use 8–200 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number. Both entries must match.
1. Choose **Save password**. If the app asks **For your security, confirm it’s you**, follow the confirmation flow rather than repeatedly resubmitting the password.
1. If offered, choose **Email me a code**, enter the **Confirmation code** from the email and continue. If the account uses two-step verification, enter the **Authenticator app code** requested instead.
1. Wait for the saved-password confirmation. It names the email you can use with the new password and also mentions Google when connected.

## Codes, identity and preferences

Email and authenticator codes are six digits. Use the latest email code; **Send a new code** is available when appropriate. Respect any cooldown shown. An expired code is not a reason to create another app account.

If the signed-in account changes during editing, the form stops the operation and asks you to sign in again. This prevents saving a password against the wrong identity. Support sessions do not expose this password editor.

For a forgotten password when signed out, use **Forgot password?** on the login page and follow the reset email. See [Create an account](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/getting-started/create-account/) for account entry and confirmation guidance. Notification, language and appearance preferences are separate: see [Settings](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/settings/overview/).

## If something goes wrong

| Symptom | Next step |
|---|---|
| Sign-in methods cannot load | Check connectivity and use **Retry**; **Sign out and try again** is also offered for recovery. |
| Passwords do not match | Re-enter matching new values. |
| Password rejected as weak or previously exposed | Choose a stronger password that meets the displayed requirements. |
| Confirmation code expired | Request a new one and respect the retry countdown. |
| Signed-in identity changed | Sign in again as the correct person before editing. |
| Save failed or confirmation is incomplete | Follow the on-screen error; do not assume the password changed. |

1. Your sign-in and notification choices are in Settings.
2. Sign-in methods shows the email and accounts you sign in with, like Google.
3. To also sign in with a password, click Set or change password.
4. Notifications decide where alerts reach you, besides the bell.
5. Turn email notifications off if you only want them in the app.
6. WhatsApp alerts need a connected WhatsApp number first.
